WelcomeThe Association was established in the 1940s for the purpose of representing fibrous plasterboard manufacturers.
During the 1980s, specialist contractors identified a need to communicate regularly with other wall and ceiling industry participants.
It was recognised that benefits could be derived from meeting to discuss common interests, such as industrial relations, new legislation and training. This resulting in the establishment, by amalgamation, of an association (AWCC) which included ceiling contractors (later amended to AWCI).
The Constitution was amended in 1991 to provide full membership to specialist contractors, manufacturers and suppliers from both the commercial and housing sectors. This has allowed the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries (Inc) to become truly representative of the wall and ceiling industry.
